Rob Aberdein

Group CEO
Rob is qualified under Scots Law and a Registered Foreign Lawyer in England and Wales who specialises in the provision of legal services to lenders. He is a Law Society of Scotland Accredited Legal Technologist, sits on the Law Society of Scotland Accreditation Panel for the Debt and Asset Recovery and the Scottish Law Commission’s Working Group looking at the reform of Heritable Securities. He is a Writer to The Signet.

Tom Barrie

Group Chair
Tom started a proper job in 1973, as a Shipping Clerk and spent the majority of his career in the logistics and freight forwarding sector. He held various roles at Director level, latterly as Managing Director, in group companies within BAA, Securicor and DHL. He acquired a controlling interest in Currie European Transport in 2000, became sole shareholder in 2007 and sold the business in 2019 as part of an MBO. Tom served as a Board Member of The South of Scotland Enterprise Partnership for two years.

Joe Bowie

Group Chief Operating Officer
Joe specialises in growing legal services providers, which has included expanding a law firm from a single UK jurisdiction, to a multi-jurisdictional offering. He has worked for many of the UK’s largest banks and building societies, leading the delivery of property law, asset management and litigation services. His background and experience has offered him significant exposure and a deep understanding of regulation, compliance and governance in both the legal and financial sectors.

Richard Loudon

Richard was a partner in Moray Group’s Simpson & Marwick for 38 years having joined the firm in 1979. He is now Non Executive Chairman of the firm. He has an extensive knowledge of the Edinburgh and East Lothian property markets and is now focusing on strategic development taking the firm forward into a new era of growth as part of the Moray Group.

Les Meikle

Entrepreneur in residence
Les trained as a Quantity Surveyor before moving into the Building Preservation Industry as a 20 year old where he subsequently progressed to Managing Director of the UK’s second largest preservation business, before being made redundant in 1996. Les then launched and grew Wise Property Care Limited to become the largest Scottish provider of preservation services before selling to Rentokil Initial plc in 2015. Les is a Fellow of both the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is former Board Member of Entrepreneurial Scotland.

Tony Banks

Tony is an award-winning businessman, entrepreneur, strategist and philanthropist who is passionate about healthcare, entrepreneurship and equality. As the founder and Chairman of Balhousie Care Group, Tony is recognised as an experienced and innovative voice in the private care sector. A former Para and Falklands War veteran, an ex Honorary Colonel with Corps of Royal Engineers and a qualified helicopter pilot and instructor, he has an honorary doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Abertay, Dundee.

Mike Hutchison

Entrepreneur in residence
Mike’s background is in pharmacy and healthcare. He graduated with an MPharm (Hons) Degree in 2000 and started his own pharmacy business in 2007. Mike’s businesses grew year on year in both scale and turnover for 12 years before he sold to a large regional pharmacy operator in 2019. Mike is an active angel investor and has an interest in residential property.
